No thrill at all. Even the desire to kill him hadn't brought any feelings of lust.
I was sure different then.
'Weird,' she muttered.
She suddenly had an urge to feel the rain, so she cranked down her window and put her arm out. The warm drops splashed against it. How nice it would be to have a convertible, to feel the rain pouring down on her. She cupped some in her hand. As she rubbed it over her face, she glimpsed a stop sign.
I could stop and get out, she thought. Just for a minute.
No, I've got to find them.
The rain would feel good on her. But their blood would feel better.
Then she realized she had just gone through the intersection without even looking for the guys.
She stepped on the brake. The Jeep came to a stop, and she shifted to reverse. She started to back up, but changed her mind.
They'd probably gone up one of the streets closer to where they'd turned onto this road. One of the first few.
She continued driving forward while she thought about the matter.
They'd probably made a left. A right would've taken them parallel to Buddy's street, and back in the direction they'd started from. If they'd wanted to do that, they would've headed the other way when they came out of Buddy's driveway.
Maureen grinned.
