'Lisa!' Buddy shouted. 'Let me in! Right now! Or I'll bust the fucking door down!' |

Tom leaned forward. He snatched the poker off the table and got to his feet. |

'I'd better tell him Lisa isn't here. Maybe they'll go away.' |

A hard blow rattled the door in its frame. |

As Tom hurried toward the foyer, Denise picked up the hammer. She went after him, glanced back and saw Kara following, the knife in her hand. |
